Woke up early to check on the best rates for land transport to Juara Beach which is on the east side of Tioman. It seems the beach in Juara has clear water and beautiful beaches. Since its our first visit and we didn't have any contacts, we went around asking the hotel staffs for recommendation. We learned that almost everyone in Tioman knows a friend or relative that owns a transport service. In Tioman, the only transport you can find is pickups, motorcycles and bicycles. The roads here are dangerous as they don't have proper tarred roads. Its all cemented roads built by the locals there. For those who don't know and its their first time in Tioman, please do NOT attempt to rent and drive yourself as it could be very dangerous.
Finally we got a pickup plus driver to drive us around for 6 - 7 hours. His name is Din (017 717 9071). We paid RM 300.00 and guess what ? The pickup fit us all ( 6 adults and 3 children ). In Tioman there are no road rules, you can even sit at the back of the pickup , which was great as most of Tioman is still jungle and the scenery is great. A great change from the hustle and bustle of the KL lifestyle.
Our 1st Stop
Waterfall..... Its on the way to Juara Beach and its privately owned. So its not listed as one of the places to visit in Tioman.
2nd Stop
After Lunch, our next stop was the Duty FREE shop ( Vision Commerce ) as it's on our way to The Marine Park.
3rd Stop

We found that their liquor collection is quite limited. Compared to Langkawi ,this is just a baby Duty free shop. Vision Commerce separates their liquor and chocolates section from the rest of the store. Its like a convenient store with batik, souvenir and many more. This is however the biggest Duty Free shop in Tioman Island. We were looking for Corona, unfortunately they didn't have the stock at the time we were there. We bought StrongBow apple cider and Hoegaarden instead. Both priced at RM 7.00 each. In Langkawi, you can get them for RM 5.00.
Later we came across 2 more Duty Free shops, QKS and All Zone. My advice is please do not enter All Zone ( situated opposite the Tekek Jetty ) unless you are into hard liquor. On the other hand QKS seems much cleaner and neater. Their liquor displays are more organised and some of the liquors sold are cheaper that Vision. Guess what, we found our Corona at QKS. So please check this place out as one of your to go list for Duty free shopping. Its located in Tekek, on the way to Berjaya Beach Resort.

Now that Duty Free shopping is done, next destination " The Marine Park Centre ". We are going to try snorkeling for the very first time. As for me I'm a bit scared as I do not swim. So my first mission .....I'm going to try to float... 4th Stop
After a hot and fun day at the beach, finally we decided to call it a day. On our way back, we ask our driver to take us somewhere we can buy some dinner back. As its Ramadan month now and almost Hari Raya in Malaysia, many shops are close especially food stalls and restaurants. Therefore food choices are very limited at this moment. We we not able to enjoy food completely.

With the Corona and pack Chinese food , we head back to our chalet and call it a night. Overall we enjoyed snorkeling and as for me floating. Since its our first time we didn't go out that far into the ocean. Definitely will come back for another visit. Corals further from the shore are more colorful and beautiful.
Here's some tips for first timers.
1. Make sure you apply good amount of sun block.
2. Beware of sand flies. We were attacked by them. Found out later that they don't like oily stuffs. So to prevent bites, you can try using Eucalyptus Oil Spray , Coconut Oil or Lavendar Oil.
3. Make sure to drink lots of water.
